| There are two main groups of marine mammals that frequent Baja, the Pinnipeds (seals) and the Cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpises). The wide variety of cetaceans and pinnipeds in occurring in Baja is due to several different factors. The migratory patterns of different whale species bring them to Baja in the winter for calving and or feeding. The tropical waters provide good habitat for many fish species, which in turn provides a good food source for the seals and dolphins. | ||||||||||||||
