ELIGIBILITY:
The NMSU RISE to Excellence Program provides research assistantships, tuition, and health insurance for NMSU graduate students in good academic standing who are matriculated full-time in a PhD degree program in a biomedical or behavioral science field. Students must work on their dissertation research under the direct supervision of a RISE Graduate Faculty Mentor.
In compliance with NIH requirements (NIH PAR-06-548), students must be a U.S. citizen or non-citizen national or a permanent resident. Applications are especially encouraged from minorities underrepresented in the sciences, first generation college students, military veterans, and students who have faced obstacles to obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to develop and participate in a research career.
Applications are reviewed by the RISE Mentor Graduate Committee. A mentor training plan for student degree completion within five years or less from the time of graduate enrollment is a required component of the application.
