Timesheets

Maximum Hours: The RISE officewill approve up to 20 hours per week.

  • A work week is defined as Sunday through Saturday.
  • Occasionally students become confused when one pay period ends and another begins in the middle of the week.
  • Students should keep track of the hours submitted between the Sunday before the pay period ended and the first Saturday of the new pay period and ensure that the total hours does not exceed 20 hours.

Overtime: The RISE grant will not pay for overtime.

  • Overtime is a violation of the student’s contract and the NMSU student employment policy and may jeopardize the student’s appointment.
  • Mentors who approve overtime hours (sign a time sheet with overtime) will need to find the funds to cover these hours.
  • Typically overtime hours are billed to the department’s account. RISE students should ensure that this scenario does not occur.

Submission:Within 2 business days after payday, the following must be done:

  1. RISE students should submit an electronic time sheet on their MyNMSU Employee Tab (found at my.nmsu.edu) and print a copy of this electronic timesheet.
  2. The printed copy of this electronic time sheet should be used to complete a second timesheet form, the NMSU Timesheet for Temporary and Student Employees found here
  3. This NMSU student time sheet form must be signed & dated by both the student and the mentor/proxy.
  4. This hard copy of the timesheet should then be turned into the RISE office within 2 business day after payday.

Missed Deadline for Timesheet Submission:

  1. If the hard copy is not brought to the RISE office in a timely fashion, the electronic time sheet will be marked as “returned for correction.”
  2. At this point, the Timesheet for Temporary and Student Employees must be filled out, signed by the research mentor, and brought to the RISE office.
