Studying Biology as an Undergraduate at NMSU

In order to study biology at New Mexico State University, a student must first apply to the university. Once accepted, he/she can declare their major as biology (or any of the other degrees offered by the biology department).

Entering Freshmen:

  1. Complete an admission application (hardcopy or online)

  2. Submit a $20 nonrefundable application fee

  3. Send a copy of your transcripts

Paper Application

  1. Have official ACT or SAT test scores sent to NMSU.
5) After your final semester of high school, please have your final official transcript sent to the NMSU Admissions Office to complete your admission.

Undergraduate: Becoming a Biology Major

In order to become a biology major, the student has to declare biology (or microbiology) as his/her major at the College of Arts and Sciences advising center. After that, advising and mentoring will be taken over by the biology department.
